Open day at Schwarzwaldmilch: microwave technology demonstration
For the past 4 years, a consortium of industrial and research organizations across Europe lead by Fraunhofer IGB, has developed a technology platform to enable energy and water savings in the dairy industry. The EnReMilk project has been supported by the European Union’s Research and Funding Programme, Framework 7 in the area of the Knowledge Based Bio-Economy (KBBE).
We are now pleased to invite you to our demonstration site at the facilities of Schwarzwaldmilch GmbH in Offenburg, Germany, on November 8th, 2017 in order to present our major findings, including a live demonstration of a new application of microwave technology in the dairy industry.
What we have accomplished is a system suitable for preheating high viscous dairy products such as milk concentrates, yoghurt and curd that significantly enhances the efficiency of subsequent spray-drying process.
In long-term trials on an industrial scale it has now been shown that the microwave technology significantly reduces fouling, cleaning efforts and therefore saves time, energy, water and overall costs. The environmental impact of dairy operations is reduced as well.
