36th Annual World Methanol Conference
The 36th annual World Methanol Conference and Workshop will address the entire value chain of methanol, especially methanol-to-olefins (MTO). The event offers lectures and discussion forums.
Fraunhofer IGB
Dr. Lenard-Istvan Csepei from the Straubing branch will be on Saturday, October 6, 2018, a lecture within the panel discussion »Are There limits to the Size of Methanol Units? How Can Small-Scale Plants be Profitable?«.
Fraunhofer IGB’s Straubing branch "BioCat" developed a chemical-biotechnological process that can turn small scale methanol plants profitable. The new patented process of BioCat enables to convert syngas or CO2 into products in only two steps. The products range from drop-in monomers (isoprene, lactic acid) to polymers (poly-hydroxybutyric acid) and terpenoids (farnesene, carotenoids). These products are typically not achievable by conventional chemical processes.
