Trade fairs and events | Retrospect 2018

From March 13–15, 2018, international scientists and experts meet at the Congress Center Düsseldorf to discuss on the progress of storage technologies for renewable energies. This year again, Fraunhofer IGB will present the topics of sorptive heat storage and chemical energy storage.

Organized by the Fraunhofer Additive Manufacturing Alliance, the DDMC is a bi-annual cutting-edge forum for discussion on Additive Manufacturing, including its application in industry and the environmental impact of such new manufacturing technologies. Impact on health, sustainability and technology will also be discussed.

MRS Meetings serve as an international stage for the examination and dissemination of current and emerging materials research. Dr. Achim Weber from the Fraunhofer IGB will give two presentations during the symposium.

analytica is the International Trade Fair for Laboratory Technology, Analysis and Biotechnology. Its unique exhibition profile unites all topics that pertain to modern analysis in research and industry. At the Fraunhofer joint booth in Hall A1, booth 524, Fraunhofer IGB will show a newly developed real-time process mass spectrometer analyzing 30 substances simultaneously from the liquid and gas phase. In addition, the three Fraunhofer Institutes IGB, ILT and IFF present OptisCell, a project from market-oriented preliminary research.

IFAT is the world's leading trade fair for technologies for the treatment and recycling of wastewater and waste. Fraunhofer IGB presents the processes developed at the institute for water treatment and the recovery of resources or nutrients from wastewater and waste streams.

The extremely interdisciplinary field of organ-on-a-chip research is rapidly growing while new and innovative systems are constantly being developed. However, a variety of engineering challenges remain, which the organ-on-a-chip field has to address as a whole to enable a sustainable growth of this breakthrough technology. The EUROoC workshop will focus on the various challenges in the development of organ-on-a-chip systems.

At ACHEMA 2018, Fraunhofer IGB will present its broad range of services in the fields of "Material Separation / Separation Technologies", "Biobased Chemicals and Materials / Biorefineries" and "Electrosynthesis / Electricity as a Raw Material". On June 30, 2018, the University of Stuttgart opens its laboratory doors. In addition to exhibits, lectures and hands-on experiments, interested parties can find out about exciting research topics and degree programs as well as about further education and training at the university. The biennial PSE conference series is organized by the European Joint Committee on Plasma and Ion Surface Engineering und presents fundamentals and applications of plasma and ion beam techniques in surface engineering.

The 36th annual World Methanol Conference and Workshop will address the entire value chain of methanol, especially methanol-to-olefins (MTO). The event offers lectures and discussion forums. Dr. Lenard-Istvan Csepei from the Straubing branch will be on Saturday, October 6, 2018, a lecture within the panel discussion »Are There limits to the Size of Methanol Units? How Can Small-Scale Plants be Profitable?«.
